When it comes to love, it seems that the answer is generally “no”. More than ever before, singles have options. I truly believe that everyone will find the perfect partner, a soul mate who will fulfill our every need through every stage of our lives. While many chaps have positive attributes, the majority are deeply flawed.

What can I do about it? Well, yes, I'll settle for imperfection and clumsy honesty.

i was inspired to write this when i saw a child struggling in a baby walker. And, this is very upsetting. Like what we heard/shared/debated in class last year, why baby walkers should be banned. it's an ongoing debate about the usefulness of baby walkers and it's harm. Nevertheless, the bottom line is, baby walkers does more harm than good! You are probably thinking, i was once in a baby walker too and i turned out well. Well, think again. With medical and technology advancement, there are now sufficient research and many articles in our super vastly internet that gives you the truth. Convenience? i rather not. Make the right decision, don't use baby walkers.

Not convincing enough? why don't you see baby walkers advertisement on telly/newspapers ? because our local media authority banned such advertisements. why? Simply to discourage you to get it.

The wardrobe needs a bit or revamping every now and then, and this time it was Zara and Co. that made me very happy.

For me shopping does work as astress buster, and it doesn’t matter for whom I am buying stuff. Just the actof buying makes me feel better. Yeah I am crazy like that. What about you? Doyou love to shop?

Yesterday's tutorial got me thinking about my future. Degree? Work? Or is my life over? For eighteen years of my life, i play my role as a student, learning has always been my priority. Will my life be stagnant? Will i lose my edge in our competitive society? i wonder what will i be like five years from now. Will i be a good teacher? a better person?

Last Saturday, i was invited to Enfant to witness the children's year-end concert cum graduation. it was so magical, it is what we work our whole lives to be part of, and i am so proud of each and every one of them. And, i cried (duh!) That kind of emotions evoked, that atmosphere, that significance, how can you not cry? Watching them grow in the past two years was amazing! These children will always have a special place in me and i will remember them forever. In hindsight, it was an extraordinary journey, the impact the children had in me and the impact i had in them, it is indescribable. Moving on, to have served my attachment at Creative Star (last sem) and currently at MFS, and more to come and more to worry about yeah. So, yeah. spoke to parents and stuffs, take-home kit, evaluation, children's work, stuffs.

On a separate note, i felt so weak and useless to actually shed so much tears for the past few weeks. Well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger uh. Although it's the holidays, i don't feel happy at all, what's the point of cheering up and be happy when your happiness will be ruined again soon. just let me stay gloomy and live my life in disdain and distastefully.

All right, I am a financialcrybaby: No matter how unfair or unreasonable it may seem, I have no choice butto live on what I make. I am having money problems and I probably have goodreasons. Well, let me comfort myself with the idea that isn’t entirely myfault. Getting less work? My expenses have unexpectedly climbed? Maybe my parentsnever taught me about money?

And, I am caught in theconstant rat-race of life. Arat race; an endless, self-defeating or pointless pursuit. You spend alot ofeffort running around, but ultimately achievenothing.

It seeminglyendless pursuit with little reward or purpose. I can starve for a meal, I canwork 10hours a day to earn money. At the end of the day, it is still not enough,never enough. My very supportiveparents would say that I wanted this in the very first place so don’t whine. Haveit ever occurred to you that thetrouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you're still a rat?

Part of maturity is taking responsibility for ourselves. I need to see and acknowledge my role in the problems that befall on me. Even if i am entirely blameless, which is rare, i still need to figure out how toplay the cards i've been dealt -- to find solutions instead of justcomplaining. That's what maturity is all about. Well, time will tell.

There are a lot of ways to stay positive. But it’s not all about you. It’s also about the people surrounding you, people that look at you weird when you smile at them, the people that need happiness in their life.

I have post-its everywhere. They hang on my computer, the wall, in my books (for me to find in the future), simply everywhere. Not empty post-its, obviously, but post-its with optimistic sentences written on them, inspirational quotes and cute little drawings that make me smile.

So how about sharing this? Write down your favourite quote or a compliment and place them on random places in stores or hide them in library books for others to find.

I know someone from Australia and shetold me a story that stayed with me for a long time.

She had gone to a party and met somenew people, but there was one gentleman that she remembered in particular. Theyhad a casual conversation and he asked about her profession. With such pride,she announced that she just completed her research with such success that shewas awarded a PHD. He was impressed and congratulated her.

Then came the next question, “What wasyour field of study?”

“Early childhood”, she replied.

Almost instantly, he cracked a smileand said “Yeah right. What is it really?”

Now she felt offended and assured himthat it was not a joke.

“You mean there is a PHD in earlychildhood? How hard could that be?” was what he said.

She is an incredible woman who hadfaith in researching early childhood, but was mocked and ridiculed for herchoice.

Recently, another friend of mineconfided in me and said that she had never felt worse in her life. She had toadmit to her own family that she has been studying in the early childhood fieldand was pursuing a career as a pre-school teacher. She said, “I saw the changein how they treated me and it hurts.” She had kept that secret for threeyears and felt that after earning a degree in early childhood, she would earnsome respect from her own family. She was wrong. Her own family loathed her inpity and shame. But why? Is a pre-school teacher really someone who should befrowned upon? Should they be degraded to the point that they don’t deserverespect?

Early childhood teachers in Singaporeare not just stereotyped. This impression that some have of us is completelywrong. We live by the words of Sigmund Frued, Lev Vgotsky and Jean Piaget.Their research with children transcends the ordinary and has inspired how allof us view children.

In the early 1900s, children were notrespected as unique individuals but merely treated as smaller adults. Childlabour was a norm and parents refuse to send children to school. It is the workof these bright minds and the teachers who took their research to heart thatmade the world look upon the early years as the turning point of anindividual’s life.

Within these early years, 75% of thechild’s brain is developed. The first three years is the critical period, wherethe rate of acquisition of new skills is at an optimum. Based on this research,teachers all around the world have been unceasing in their efforts in providingexceptional care to children. We lift children high up in the air so that theworld can see them. We give them the confidence to be themselves and we showthem that the world is theirs to conquer. The way I see it, an early childhoodteacher can either give you confidence or crush it. This is because a child neverforgets and they take good and bad experiences with them throughout theirlives.

For those who are still wondering, yesthere is a Degree, a Masters and a PHD programme in early childhood and it isnot based on how you teach ABCs. We learn child psychology to understand theemotional ups and downs in a child’s life. We learn first aid so that we cannurse a child in emergency situations. We learn brain development so that wecan develop their cognitive abilities.

Before you start to judge pre-schoolteachers, realize that you have put your prized treasure in our hands. Yourchildren is the nation’s future. The people you degrade are the very people whofill the hearts of your children with compassion, love and joy. These peoplewhom you frown upon are the very people who would be there whole-heartedly foryour children even when we are being mocked at. You trust doctors with yourlives and you respect them for their service. But teachers are responsible forsomething more important — the lives of your children — and you degrade them?Within those school hours, teachers are responsible, for the health, safety,emotional well-being and academic development of your children. We don’t do itfor the money. We do it because we see children like no else does, for theirpotential.

We will dash into a burning buildingfor them. If that does not earn us the respect, I have no choice but to loosefaith in humanity. I stand proud as a teacher and I hope many others who are inthe field of early childhood would join me.

when we apply all the above noble principles inour practice, people can feel our sincerity and our contributions. It’s reallynot that difficult to gain their respect.
As for thosematerialistic snobs, why bother about their opinions?
Take pride in what wedo, and do it well. Stay happy and positive for our own sake, if not for thechildren.

Pastor was right, where’s my faith? Did I put in efforts orjust let everything happens by chance? Today, was the first time in a longtime, I have been to Church. I gave up Ministry and Cell months ago, did I gaveup my faith too? Even though I’m now an adult and can do what I want…I still get a thrill out of it. It feels like I’m doing something I’m not supposed to do, like I’m somewhat a bad girl for doing so. My eyes always flick around when I’m doing it, because I know it’s not okay, I know I shouldn’t be doing it. But one of the best things about moving away from home is the fact that you can have cake for breakfast. Just because I can! I like being an adult as well, mostly because I keep the child in me alive. This is also why I want to wait to have kids – I’m not done being one just yet.

Don't worry; I'll just go ahead without you. I know how hectic your life is.

It is an almost universal sentiment that the chronically late friend can irritate even those of us who are good natured and patient. But ultimately, your friend may not change. I know mine didn't, and probably won't. So I should think about whether this friendship is worth keeping. To me, I always have these two choices. Firstly, stop hanging out with this person rather than putting yourself through the frustration. Secondly, accept the lateness as part of his/her personality and trust that s/he will likewise accept your less-than-desirable qualities too. Normally, I opted for the first option. Real life examples, K, R, V, Y, C, D, B…

This means that in spite of the fact that this friend is inconveniencing you repeatedly; she/he is not ignored nor considered less of a friend. I feel a degree of annoyance with myself or continually allowing this friend in, only for her/him to do it again and a commitment to remain friends. Thus, if the punctual friend suffers but doesn't give up and the tardy friend isn't educable or able to reform, it's an ongoing frustration. And, ironically, it's the punctual friend who becomes an acrobat, contorting to her unpunctual friend's schedule. It's not that I don't want to be with this friend, but that she misses a third of the movie, or I'm on the street waiting for her in the pouring rain for a half hour.

Of course, everyone hits their threshold, and self-delusion can wear thin. So while you might have been more accepting now, one episode can rupture the status quo. Ultimately, as long as the balance of a friend who is late and a friend who is on time works, the friendship survives. And if I can’t adapt to a tardy friend, it is sort of my fault, isn’t it?

In the final analysis, it does no good to become exasperated with her/his lateness. You can mess up your schedule if you want, but you don’t have the power to mess up mine.

I will not nag, lecture, or blame my friends who are late because I will have a great time without them
I will not argue with my friends who are late, because they will outlast me.
I will always be kind, polite, and solicitous to them and be genuinely concerned for their well being.

Overdose

I couldn’t sleep and I blame it on a chocolate overdose. The story goes like this. Last night, I enjoyed a large serving of deliciously-sinful chocolate ice cream. Science has proven that Chocolate contains caffeine and is disruptive to sleep.

Many folks have heard that "chocolate is poisonous to pets". As far as that goes, if you eat a massive enough amount, it's poisonous to people, too. Yes, yes, I hear you out there saying that chocolate is actually an essential nutrient, that you can't live without it (or life isn't worth living without chocolate, or something like that). Yes, I know that a small amount of dark chocolate is considered beneficial to your heart. I eat them sometimes, though it's mostly because I like it --the heart benefit is just serendipitous.

I just read up about Chocolate, “The toxicity of chocolate is very much dose-related, and generally speaking, it takes a pretty massive amount to be poisonous. Theobromine is the toxic compound in chocolate, and in large amounts it can make your heart race, give you vomiting and diarrhea, cause seizures, and even death. ”

THE BOTTOM LINE

Eating chocolate at night can potentially keep you awake and too much chocolate causes death.

And, since I haven’t had sleep the entire night, my skin would lose it’s radiance so I am going to fake a good night sleep and still look bright-eyed and radiant by splashing cold water on my face.

The eyes cannot tell a lie, they say. It’s the first thing that people notice – and people can tell how sleep-deprived we are just by looking at our eyes. Lack of sleep means puffy eyes. To counter puffiness, I will be placing chilled metal spoons on my eyes.

That day, B was saying that it’s very hard to read my mind and know what I am thinking. Of course, B is not the only one who thinks this way.

True, I am a closed book. Not in the sense that my story is over, just that you have to open me and turn the pages. I probably won’t ever really share anything about myself or any deep thoughts unless provoked by another comment or question. That’s just the way I am, I internalize things. The kind of person who never wears her heart on her sleeve, I am just “OK” all the time. I will say, however, that I am a particularly well written book coming up on the end of my…say…third chapter. And you know what happens at the end of a chapter…something exciting, tragic, or plot changing.

I know, you probably never thought I’d associate myself with books but it’s just a metaphor. Anyway, I say that because I don’t understand people that just start spewing themselves without being prompted. I’m not talking about people who will start a conversation; I’m talking about the ones who can’t stop sharing everything about themselves. Those people are open books…or maybe audio books.

So i was home alone all day and night today, it has been quite some time since the last time i was left at home alone.it felt strange when i stepped into the house as it was quiet and still. no quarrels, no music, no conversations. A little not used to it.

i suddenly have the urge to blog. i have no idea why. so i will be heading to the school library and hit the pool later with fely and bryan. i've been to the national library today again and i seriously hope is the last time i will ever step foot there (which i highly doubt so) indeed,there is a myriad of books, neatly arranged,well taken care of, no dog-ears, no scribbles whatsoever. but the security is so tight, they inspect you every time you step in and out there as though you are a theft.so troublesome. the view from the elevator was nice and the ambiance was great.

there was a heavy downpour yesterday when i saw a big fat snail crawling up a pillar at the sheltered-walk way. snails are such smart animals. i wonder what would happen if it's falls?i hope the shell will not break into pieces.

i had been to Enfant (the school where i'm attach to) twice so far. the people was nice (well most of them), the children were ADORABLE. i hug them!!! and my alfre is such a cutie! he can't write well so i guided him. and hold his smooth fair hands.took advantage of him.hahas,what a perv! oh did i mention, during my first day there, i had to help to shower them....pretty scaring,enriching though.

Prom was definitely a night to remember. The people were awesome. it's not about what you wear or how glamorous you look but was about the socializing and wine&dine. it is also a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the entire cohort get together as one as we enjoy our final last moments together.

I'm back!
i just ton(Cheryl taught me this word) at zixuan's house with my girls.
Sad thing was two babes left early.
Best part was the 'movie marathon' we had. We watched Sex and the City and Confession of a Shopaholic Dvds and officially declared bedtime at 3am.that's pretty awesome.
and did i mention that we cooked our own dinner?it was pretty screwed up but there was the sense of achievement after all the oil spilling,water boiling,egg cracking moments.that marinated chicken drumstick was a great masterpiece!
oh,the night was about poker,xbox and more food! (yes,double workout next week!!!)
and i will be going to taiwan in Dec.Woohoo.Taiwan is a very interesting country with very wonderful people.it's a food and shopping paradise!!
